What Does Home Switchboard Installation Do?

Switchboard installation is a core component of both residential and commercial electrical projects and is the main task for Sydney electricians. They take electricity from the grid and route it through the different circuits in the home.  Electricity is supplied to the home’s main switchboard direct from the grid at about 230V. The switchboard then redirects the correct current and voltage to appliances, lights, and outlets around the home. The switchboard installation is therefore essential to the function of almost any other home or commercial electrical system.

Some small home electrical issues involving the switchboard installation can be solved by a normal resident. One such example is only some electrical components such as the lights or appliances being out. This is usually a result of a circuit breaker tripping (or a fuse breaking in older units) due to an overload. Simply switching the correct switch back on can solve the problem, but if the problem occurs again, Sydney electricians should be consulted.

The actual switchboard installation like many other electrical projects should always be left to trained professionals as there is a serious risk of injury if not done properly. The safest way to work on switchboards is to disconnect them. Many of the busbars used for power distribution are bare and these pose a significant risk of electrocution when working on them. Because of this, Sydney electricians will usually use protective gloves and rubber grounding mats to protect them.
